The activities of Roslyne Ecological are very varied within the common theme of environmental education and advice. The pages of this web site show the breadth of those activities, and reflect the range of experience that Richard Osmond can draw on to provide support in ecological matters.

Richard has been running Roslyne Ecological since 1996. Before that he was responsible for a project that set up an environmental study centre within a farming and sporting estate in the Meon Valley in Hampshire. He has also spent a number of years teaching A Level Biology in a major VIth Form College, and has been a tutor for the Open University as well as teaching introductory computer courses for adults.

After a first degree in Zoology, he stayed on at Bangor University to complete a Ph.D. in ecological genetics. The focus of his research was the shell colour polymorphism of the banded snail, Cepaea, although he in no way considers himself to be an expert on land snails.
Subsequent influences have led to a far greater interest in freshwater ecology but the demands of the Hi-Tech Wild-Trek trailer have ensured that he has kept a broad interest in habitats of both terrestrial and coastal marine types.

Based in Hampshire, Roslyne Ecological tends to work mainly in the SE, but the range extends to 13 counties, 3 London Boroughs, and 3 unitary authorities. HTWT is prepared to travel anywhere in the UK, and the ecological resources can be sent anywhere in the world.

Video and still images have been incorporated in a European Watermills project’s CD ROM, and video clips of pond animals also appear in a CD ROM from the Field Studies Council. Richard is an active member of the Assoc. for Science Education.
